چکیده

Drought stress is a serious threat to the germination of plant seeds and growth seedlings. Melatonin has been proven play an important role in alleviating stress. However, its effect on seed under drought conditions still poorly understood. Therefore, we studied effects melatonin rice physiological characteristics Rice were treated with different concentrations (i.e., 0, 20, 100, 500 μM) was simulated 5% polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG6000). The results showed that 100 μM can effectively improve potential, rate index; vigor index seeds; length shoot root. In addition, treatment also increased activity superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) catalase (CAT), reduced content malondialdehyde (MDA). grey relational grade between MDA seed-soaking highest, which could be useful for evaluating tolerance. Two-way analysis variance single more significant than interaction (p < 0.05). subordinate function significantly improved indexes alleviated adverse helped understanding morphological involvement promoting seedling development

Positive effects of karrikin on seed germination of three medicinal herbs under drought stress

ABSTRACT- Improper seed germination is a serious challenge for medicinal herbs under drought stress conditions in semi-arid and arid regions. A new group of plant growth regulators known as karrikins have been proved useful to improve seed germination in some plants. In this regard, the effects of karrikin on seed germination and vigor of three medicinals under drought stress were examined. See...

Cold plasma treatment enhances oilseed rape seed germination under drought stress

Effects of cold plasma treatment on seed germination, seedling growth, antioxidant enzymes, lipid peroxidation levels and osmotic-adjustment products of oilseed rape under drought stress were investigated in a drought-sensitive (Zhongshuang 7) and drought-tolerant cultivar (Zhongshuang 11). Results showed that, under drought stress, cold plasma treatment significantly improved the germination r...

Proteomics of rice seed germination

Seed is a condensed form of plant. Under suitable environmental conditions, it can resume the metabolic activity from physiological quiescent status, and mobilize the reserves, biosynthesize new proteins, regenerate organelles, and cell membrane, eventually protrude the radicle and enter into seedling establishment. So far, how these activities are regulated in a coordinated and sequential mann...

The Effects of Seed Priming with Acid Ascorbic on Seed Germination and Morphological Traits of Taverniera cuneifolia under Drought Stress

The species of Taverniera cuneifolia belonging to the family of legominoseae is a perennial species usually growing in the south of Iran. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of the drought stress and seed priming using acid ascorbic (AsA) on seed germination of Taverniera cuneifolia in laboratory and seedling morphological traits in greenhouse conditions. This study was cond...

Studies on seed germination and growth in weed species of rice field under salinity stress.

An investigation was made to see the salt tolerance of 10 weed species of rice. Properly dried and treated seeds of weed species were placed on 9 cm diameter petridishes lined with Whatman No. 1 filter paper under 6 salinity regimes, viz. 0 (control), 4, 8, 16, 24 and 32 dS m(-1). The petri dishes were then kept in germinator at 25 +/- 1.0 degrees C and 12 hr light. The number of germinated see...
